How to be an Impact Expert

When you hear the word “expert” what comes to mind?

Over the past nine years, I have dedicated myself to working deeply with high-performing professional women and on my own personal growth.

Right now is a pivotal moment for me. A moment where passion, effort, skill, and insight converge, and everything clicks into place.

You might have noticed the rebranding of my beloved podcast. With a new name and direction, you might be curious about the reasons and the process behind this change.

If you haven’t I am going to share this journey because if you are a woman looking to be seen as the thought leader that you are, this is exactly what you need.

The journey to helping Impact Experts

Currently, I am pursuing my Honours in Psychology and have completed a trauma certification underDr. Gabor Maté's Compassionate Inquiry program

In the last 18 months, I conducted 350 in-depth interviews with impact-driven women in corporate and entrepreneurship to understand what holds them back from flourishing.

Additionally, I completed Advanced Statistics with high distinction for my psychology studies—a subject that was challenging yet rewarding.

This period of intense study and reflection, combined with well-deserved downtime in Burleigh Heads (Queensland, Australia), has brought me to an inflextion point.

I realised that many women seek me out as a coach or mentor because they want to become impact-driven experts based on credibility rather than fluff.

The Penny that dropped is this - mind the pun.

I constantly hear from women who seek me out to be their coach or mentor that they want to do what I do. Not exactly but it’s the essence of what I do that resonates.

These women like me are knowledge workers across both entrepreneurship and corporate. They pride themselves on being good at what they do, they want to have a positive impact through their work whilst having freedom and flexibility in their life.

This led me to go deeper into this thought.

Understanding the an Impact Expert

The feedback from my audience highlighted two highly resonating topics that I have been talking about recently:“How to Become an Expert” my podcast episode on credentials (Ep 127) and theHow to Crack Corporate Masterclass I ran.

These insights, coupled with my newfound knowledge in advanced statistical research, piqued my curiosity about how many amazing women aspire to become impact experts backed by credibility and evidence.

My journey began with understanding what it means to be an expert. According to Ericsson, a renowned researcher in exceptional achievement, an expert is “someone widely recognised as a reliable source of knowledge, technique, or skill whose judgment is accorded authority and status by the public or his or her peers”.

However, my experience showed that women aiming to be impact experts do so not just to be the best but to make a meaningful difference, leave a legacy, and be role models for their children.

Why we need more female experts

The statistics are telling:

  • Women comprise only 20% of expert news sources.
  • Only 30% of conference speakers are women.
  • Women are the subject of political and governmental coverage just 16% of the time.
  • Only 24% of people in newspaper, television, and radio news are women.

This lack of visibility and recognition means women are often undervalued and not considered for influential positions, impacting the visibility of role models for future generations. Yet, the evidence shows that purpose-led experts are not born but made through deliberate practice.

What am I doing to help you become an Impact Expert?

I am committed to fostering more visible, purpose-driven female experts to shape a more inclusive and compassionate future. This commitment includes:

  • A rebranded podcast that shares the journey and insights of becoming a visible, impact-driven female expert.
  • A White Paper based on qualitative research to highlight the need for more visible female experts and how to achieve this collectively.
  • A holistic expert skills framework that combines evidence-based mindset, behaviour, and business strategies to boost impact, credibility, and expert status.
  • Building an inclusive, diverse community of impact experts who support each other in this journey.

Final thoughts

My goal is to help 1 million impact-driven women redefine what it means to be an expert.

This journey aims to empower purpose-led women to become sought-out experts, grow their impact, income, and freedom, while showcasing the positive societal impact of more women being valued, seen, and heard.

Through my journey, evidence-backed research, and stories of purpose-led women, I want to help you clarify your path to success, overcome self-doubt, and invest in the credentials that matter.

This is my invitation to you to join me on the quest to become an impact expert.
