This week, Penny chats with an amazing girl who is empowering the next generation of women in STEMM. Grace McKee, Monash Science Student and Sisters in Science founder, has created a program where she brings women into high schools to chat with girls about what it means to be a woman working in STEMM.
One of the topics they speak about is the fear of failure. If a boy fails a test, he is most likely going to move on from it and work harder to not fail the next time. Whereas if a girl fails a test, she is much more likely to think, "I'm not very good at this." She will subconsciously put less effort into it, amplifying the idea that she's not good at something.
Do you think the fear of failure manifests itself at a young age? We would love to hear your thoughts. Pop your comments on Penny’s YouTube Channel.
